Wednesday 7 May 2014

Well here we are, the day has come to start off on our adventure and guess what its raining!  All the things we said about not chugging in the rain and here we are untying in the rain and heading to the lock.  We went in really smoothly and tied onto the poles, it was John on the lock so he waited for us to tie up, then down we went and onto the River Severn, it was calm and very low and the rain stopped and the sun came out now and then.   Up the partings and onto the wider river, saw a couple of boats, but really very quiet.

Past the Boat pub, no-one moored, on past Haw Bridge, really quiet there too and on to the Yew Tree, moored up, was very windy but got tied up without any trouble.

Went up to the pub for a drink and check it was okay to moor overnight, they said that was fine.

Back to boat, had lunch, then had an afternoon siesta, then went out for a walk down a very long lane, not much at the end, a few houses and a church.  Back to boat and up to the pub in the evening for a meal.  The meal was very nice and the people are really friendly, a good place to stop.
Really looking forward to tomorrow and chugging further up the river to Upton on Severn, our adventure has begun.
