Consall Forge to Holly Bush Pub, Denford (Caldon Canal)

The sun was shining this morning which was lovely as we are off today.   We got water, then set off along the canal.

Up through the lock that takes us back on the canal and off the river section, although you wouldn’t really know you were on a river as it was so calm and hardly any flow.  Back under the lift bridge that is permanently open, through the next three locks and as the flint mill was open today, we stopped there to go and have a look.  It was really interesting and the water wheels were working.  Had a wander around there, then back to the boat and we set off again.

On we went up the canal, it is really lovely, so rural and the views are so nice.  We moored at the Holly Bush pub at Denford.  Went in the pub for a drink, it was really busy for a Monday afternoon.  Sat in the sun outside the pub and watched the world go by, it is such a lovely spot like many on this canal.  Staying here tonight, then chugging off tomorrow.
