Upton to Worcester

So after four days at Upton, we are off today, so untied and headed off up the river towards Worcester, the weather was really nice and the river was calm but had a bit of a flow.  It was all very quiet, didn’t see any other boats moving around.

Got up to Diglis lock and in we went, nice and smooth, roped up and up we went and out through the lock.  We moored up on the lock moorings to fill up with water then went up to the floating moorings at Diglis and surprise surprise there was a space, so we moored there.

We needed to get a few povisions so used the GPS on Kev’s phone and it took us there easily, even if it took us up a very steep lane, what would we do without technology!!  We then walked back through the basin and walked along the river to the Cathedral and stopped at the Diglis Hotel for an afternoon drink and sat in the sun watching all the rowers on the river, it was really nice and the sun was really warm.

Walked back and then walked up the Worcester & Birmingham canal for a bit as it was such a nice evening.  When we were walking back past the two locks that lead onto the river, there was a boat going through and a Canal and River Trust chap was there and said to the people in the boat that the river was in Amber which really surprised us as it is really calm but flowing a bit. The marker on the lock was in Amber when we walked by, but as the weather is set to be getting better, it should be fine, nothing to worry about and we are on a floating pontoon.   Went back to the boat and then the heavens opened and there was a heavy shower but not for long and we were in the boat, so didn’t worry.  Cleared up after that and it was a pleasant evening and we even had the bells ringing in the Cathedral to listen to, must be practice on a Monday.

We are having a few days in Worcester now, off out around the shops tomorrow.
