We are off on a steam train today on the Severn Valley Railway which goes from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth. Got the mainline
train to Kidderminster and walked over to the Steam railway station, got our
tickets, then a chap came in behind us and bearing in mind the station is an
old vintage station, he asked the ticket lady for the cheapest ticket to Cheltenham,
how she didn’t laugh, we don’t know as we wanted to, but she just told him that
he was at the wrong station and wanted the main line station across the way!
The steam train was in, so we got on the train and off we went, we got
off at Bewdley and had a couple of hours there, it is a really nice town on the
River Severn. We had a walk around and
then sat by the river for a bit. Walked
back to the station and travelled on to Bridgnorth where we also had a couple of hours.

Found a really nice butchers which did hot pork baguettes, so we bought these and sat by the river for a while, we then got ice creams which was ice cream from the local area and was delicious and spent a bit more time sitting by the river. We caught the Funicular railway back up to the high town, too steep for me to walk up the steps! and had a walk around there, it is a really nice place.
Then back to the station and caught the steam train back to Kidderminster and then the main line train back to Worcester. Walked back along the river and was pleased to see it was not running so fast and it has gone down a bit.
Phew, back to the boat now for a rest, but what a nice day.
Sound lovely. Is that the steam train that goes over the Staffs & Worcs? We moored up for a snooze once and I remember it tooted every time it crossed the canal.
