Stone to Weston Upon Trent (Trent and Mersey Canal)

In Star Lock by the Star Inn

Flower Display in Stone
Had a later start this morning being Sunday, so set off along the canal to the first of the four locks in Stone, went through the first two locks, then stopped at the services for water, etc.  Then on to the next two locks, the last lock is called Star Lock and the Star Inn is right by this lock.  Through there and on down the canal, it is nice open countryside along here, through the next lock and so to the last lock for today, we went into the lock and a boat was waiting to come up, the man and woman from that boat were at the gate ready to do the paddles when I had shut the gate.  We like to do the paddles one at a time, but they started opening them together, Kev shouted to them to do just open one first, but they took no notice, so I walked down and said please do them one at a time, the chap didn’t like being told and he muttered to me about how peculiar some people are, I just said to him well there is no rush and anyway its our boat and with that he walked off in a huff back to his boat, oh well!!!

Down the lock we went and on along the canal and moored at Weston Upon Trent.  There was a boat just leaving the moorings so we waited to go in that space, but they had difficulty getting out of the space, not really sure why but it took a good 10 minutes or so, eventually they went on their way and we moored up in the space.
The Woolpack

There are two pubs in Weston Upon Trent, not really much else, just some nice cottages, it is a nice place though.  We walked up to the village green where The Woolpack is, went in and had a drink, it is a Marstons pub, looked good though.  Walked back to the canal.  The other pub called The Saracen’s Head is near the canal, but we didn’t go in there, it looked okay from the outside.

Back to the boat and just chilled out for the rest of the day.  We are staying here tonight and moving off again tomorrow.
